For an unforgettable weekend road trip, Friends of Jayco Theresa and Ben Schlink from Caravan of Conservation have it all sorted. Together with their four children and puppy, they have lived in their Jayco Expanda for over two years, so you know you’re in good hands! To help you set out on your own, they’ve already organised the perfect weekend – all you have to do is pack up and go!

Day 1 – Adelaide to Victor Harbour

Start your weekend adventure by heading 84 kms down to Victor Harbour. About halfway into your trip, stop at a winery in McLaren Vale for lunch and a tasting. Once you arrive in Victor Harbour, you will be met with a beautiful coastal town. Theresa and Ben recommend taking a horse-drawn train and heading over to Granite Island.

Day 2 – Victor Harbour to Murray Bridge

For your next stop, the direct route takes you along the coast then inland 92.5 kms back up to Murray Bridge. However, Theresa and Ben suggest taking a 30-minute detour (additional 31 kms) via the Murray Mouth Lookout where the mighty Murray meets the sea, for a spectacular sight.

From Murray Bridge, visit the historic town Mannum to see what most people describe as the best part of the Murray. You may also cross over the free 24-hour car barge and with some beautiful free camps along the Murray River, you’re spoiled for choice.

Day 3 – Murray Bridge to Adelaide

To wrap up your weekend experience, it’s 75 kms back to Adelaide. On your way, take a pit stop for lunch in the quaint German town, Hahndorf. Settled in the 19th-century, this town is pretty as a picture and offers some beautiful cuisine.
