Life of the road is full of fun, family time and adventures. However, with long stretches on the road and a packed itinerary, it can be a little difficult to prioritise mindfulness and physical activity.
To make it a little easier, we’ve complied some of our favourite apps to help kickstart your health and mindfulness routine while on the road. These apps are also child friendly, making it a perfect opportunity to introduce your kids to mindfulness.
Mindfulness: Bloom App
Bloom is jam packed with plenty of features including of all guided meditations, mindful movements, affirmations and other little games and activities like colouring and connecting dots which will help you relax and detox your mind. Each time you open the app, it asks how you’re feeling so it can tailor the different activities and meditations based on your mood. It is also super easy to use, child friendly and is a great way to proactivity work on your mindfulness whilst on the road! Meditations: Headspace
Headspace is great app when it comes to incorporating daily meditations into your routine. There are a range of different meditation categories, including short meditations, sleep meditations, guided meditations and more. They also have a range of meditations for both adults and kids. You do need to pay to unlock all the features of Headspace and a monthly subscription will set you back just over $90 annually or $19.99 per month.
Reflection: Five Minute journal
The Five Minute Journal is an incredible app that allows you to focus on creating a happier life in just five minutes each day. Each day you can write down what you’re grateful for, how you’re feeling and jot down any other notes to help you reflect. There are also positive affirmations and weekly challenges. The app offers a basic version for free, as well as a premium version which allows you to add photos and videos and the ability to track your mood. This app is a great way one for the whole family.
On the go workouts: Sworkit
Sworkit is the top fitness app for iPhone, Android or web users. It allows customise workouts which is sure to help you stay motivated and get excited to work out. You can even tailor it to the particular environment or setting you are in, so if you’re out on the road you can make the most of your surroundings. Plus, there are workouts specifically created for kids. While there is a subscription fee for this app, all of the kids workouts are free! So, go on, add this one to your app installation bucket list!
Affirmations/inspirations: Motivation
If you’re on the hunt for an affirmation app, Motivation is the one for you. It is simple and straightforward to use, offering daily positive affirmations and encouraging powerful words, which is a great way to each your way into creating a mindful routine. Plus, kids will love reading the daily affirmations before hitting the road each morning.
